Raurkela: The Raurkela Municipal Corporation (RMC) has cancelled all holidays and leave availed by its staff with immediate effect in view of heavy rainfall and prevailing adverse weather conditions in the city.
According to an office order issued on Thursday, the decision has been taken considering the possibility of waterlogging, drainage-related problems, road blockages and other rain-related emergencies.
All officers and employees of the RMC have been directed to remain available for duty and attend to emergency and field-related works as and when required. Heads of sections and branch officers have been instructed to ensure adequate deployment of personnel and coordination for rain-related emergency response, drainage clearance, management of waterlogging, removal of road obstructions and other urgent municipal services.
The order further stated that no staff member shall remain absent from duty without prior permission from the competent authority and warned that any unauthorised absence would be viewed seriously.
The leave cancellation will remain in force until further orders, the RMC Commissioner said.
