Bhubaneswar/Mathili: Odisha Industries, Skill Development and Technical Education Minister Sampad Chandra Swain on Thursday laid the foundation stone for a Centre of Excellence in Electric Vehicle Technology at Government ITI, Mathili in Malkangiri district, to be established at a cost of Rs 4.8 crore.
The proposed centre is aimed at strengthening technical education and providing specialised training in electric vehicle technology to students and trainees.
During his visit, Swain also inaugurated an Engineering Drawing Laboratory, an online classroom and a conference hall at the institute, with the objective of improving its academic infrastructure and teaching facilities.
The minister subsequently chaired a review meeting on the functioning and training infrastructure of Government ITI Mathili, Government ITI Malkangiri and Malkangiri Government Polytechnic. Principals of the three institutions apprised him of their academic activities, training programmes and other initiatives.
The District Skill Development and Employment Officer briefed the meeting on various skill development programmes being implemented in Malkangiri.
Swain also reviewed industrial activities in the district at a separate meeting attended by officials of the District Industries Centre, the Malkangiri DIPA team and senior officers of IDCO. He directed officials to take steps to further strengthen the district’s skill development network and industrial ecosystem.
Koraput MLA Raghuraam Machha and Malkangiri MLA Narasingha Madkami were among those present during the minister’s visit.
