Puri: Public darshan at the Shree Jagannath Temple will remain suspended for four hours on Monday evening due to the observance of the Khasapada Lagi Niti, a special ritual of the sibling deities performed on the occasion of Shrabana Shukla Panchami.
The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) on Sunday informed that the ritual will begin after the completion of the second Bhoga Mandapa offering. As a result, devotees will not be allowed to have darshan of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra from 6 pm to 10 pm.
The Khasapada Lagi ritual is observed two to three times a year. During the ceremony, the Shreepayars (holy feet) of the deities are wrapped with white cloth as part of the traditional religious observance.
Entry into the sanctum sanctorum remains restricted throughout the ritual, and public darshan is suspended.
The temple administration has advised devotees planning to visit the shrine on Monday to keep the revised darshan schedule in mind and plan their visit accordingly to avoid inconvenience.
