Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Sunday said the state government is closely monitoring the flood situation in several parts of the state following renewed rains.
Taking to social media platform X, Majhi said local administrations were keeping a close watch on the situation and undertaking necessary rescue and relief operations in the affected areas.
Three senior and experienced officers have been assigned special responsibility for Baleshwar, Bhadrak and Jajpur districts to ensure smooth management of rescue and relief operations, the Chief Minister said.
The Special Relief Commissioner is also continuously coordinating with district administrations and supervising the ongoing rescue and relief work, he said.
“Our top priority is to provide immediate relief to the affected people and ensure their safety,” Majhi said, adding that he would visit the affected areas on Monday to take stock of the situation on the ground.
The Chief Minister also urged people in affected areas to follow the instructions issued by the local administration and exercise caution.
“Please follow the instructions of the administration and stay safe. The government is always with you,” Majhi said.
