Telangana CM For Incentives To Doctors Serving Extra Time In Govt Hospitals

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Monday said that the government will provide incentives to super-speciality doctors who are ready to serve extra time in the government hospitals.

He made the announcement while addressing a meeting after inaugurating Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS) in Sanathnagar here.

He also announced that the construction of the new building of Osmania Hospital, and TIMS at LB Nagar and Alwal and Warangal super-speciality hospital would be completed by December 9, 2027.

The Chief Minister said that once these projects are completed, a total of 10,000 hospital beds will be available in the State.

He said that a dedicated director for each hospital would be appointed to oversee operations and also sanction funds to provide necessary facilities for the attendants of patients.

CM Revanth Reddy emphasised that measures should be taken to run these new TIMS hospitals on par with corporate hospitals. He asked the officials to provide incentives for super-speciality doctors who are ready to serve extra time.

The Chief Minister claimed that after assuming office, the “people’s government” initiated measures to complete the TIMS hospitals at Sanathnagar, LB Nagar, and Alwal, as well as the Warangal super speciality hospital.

Expressing concern over the increasing cost of healthcare services in private hospitals, the Chief Minister said that the government established TIMS to make corporate-standard healthcare accessible to the poor.

He revealed that since assuming office, his government spent Rs 2,700 crore on the Arogyasri scheme and Rs 2,526 crore was released under the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF). “A total of Rs 5,226 crore has been spent on healthcare for the poor till date. In the last two years, the government spent Rs 21,800 crore on the Medical and Health Department,” he said.

CM Revanth Reddy criticised the previous BRS government for not constructing a new building for Osmania Hospital despite the existing one being in dilapidated condition. The KCR government merely laid foundation stones for the TIMS hospitals and the Warangal hospital but abandoned the projects, the Chief Minister charged.

The CM alleged that the BRS leaders focused more on constructing farmhouses at Erravalli, Janwada, Moinabad, and Shankarpally. The previous government ignored the health sector completely, and the leaders should introspect at least now.

The Chief Minister ridiculed BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao’s claim of constructing the TIMS hospitals by the BRS government. If the BRS government built TIMS, why was it not inaugurated, he asked. He said people were not ready to trust the BRS leaders.

The Chief Minister reiterated that the “people’s government” accorded top priority to education and healthcare, alongside agriculture and women’s welfare.
