Bhubaneswar: Two additional gates of the Hirakud Dam have been opened, taking the total number of open gates to 17.
Earlier, 15 gates were already open for the release of floodwater. Water is currently being discharged through 11 gates on the left side and 6 gates on the right side of the dam.
The water level in the Hirakud reservoir now stands at 620.17 feet.At present, the inflow into the reservoir is 3,77,081 cusecs, while 2,68,883 cusecs of water is being released.
