Bhadrak: In a significant step to ensure student safety amid worsening flood conditions, the Collector Bhadrak district has ordered the suspension of academic and non-academic activities in 205 schools across four blocks of the district for today.
The official office order, issued from the Office of the Collector & District Magistrate, Bhadrak, cites incessant heavy rainfall, the prevailing flood situation, and ongoing restoration work as the primary reasons for the decision.
The district administration prioritised the safety of students while directing that classes and related activities in the affected Gram Panchayats and schools remain suspended for the day. The four flood-hit blocks where schools will remain closed are Bhadrak, Tihidi, Dhamnagar and Chandbali. A total of 205 educational institutions—covering both primary and secondary levels—fall under this temporary closure.
Besides, 265 Anganwadi Centres across four blocks of Bhadrak district will remain closed today as per the district administration’s order.
The order comes into force with immediate effect. School authorities have also been instructed to ensure that all water sources within school premises are properly sanitised before any future use, in view of possible contamination caused by floodwaters.
Copies of the order have been forwarded to the Block Education Officers of the concerned blocks, the Chief District Education Officer, Sub-Collectors, all Tahsildars, BDOs, and Executive Officers of Urban Local Bodies in Bhadrak district for information and necessary action.
