Bhubaneswar: In view of the ongoing flood situation and waterlogging in several parts of Jajpur district, the district administration has ordered the suspension of classes in 313 schools across eight blocks.
The official order, issued by the District Education Office of Jajpur under the direction of the Collector and District Magistrate, states that classes in government, government-aided and private schools (covering Elementary, Secondary and Higher Secondary levels) in the affected areas shall remain suspended. Schools in other parts of the district will function as usual.
The eight blocks where schools have been ordered closed are Bari, Dasarathpur, Binjharpur, Rasulpur, Korei, Dharmasala, Jajpur and Badchana. A total of 313 educational institutions fall under this temporary suspension.
While academic activities have been halted in these schools, the order clearly specifies that the school buildings shall remain open and be made available for rescue and rehabilitation purposes as and when required by the administration. This provision aims to support ongoing relief operations in the flood-affected areas.
Copies of the order have been forwarded to all Block Education Officers of Jajpur district, concerned heads of educational institutions and other relevant authorities including the School and Mass Education Department for information and necessary action.
