New Delhi: A meeting of the Working Group on Planning of the Russia-India Intergovernmental Commission on Military and Military-Technical Cooperation was held in New Delhi, during which both sides discussed ways to expand interaction between armed forces.
“On August 20-21, a meeting of the Working Group on Planning of the Russia-India Intergovernmental Commission on Military and Military-Technical Cooperation was held in New Delhi. The sides reviewed the results of the joint activity plan for the current year, outlined measures for 2027 and discussed ways to expand interaction between the armed forces of the two countries,” the Russian Embassy in India stated on its official Telegram channel.
Earlier this month, India and Russia reaffirmed their commitment to enhance mutual trust and advance defence industrial and technological cooperation during the fifth India-Russia Army Land System Sub-Group (ALSSG) meeting in New Delhi.
The four-day engagement from August 4–7 was held under the aegis of the India-Russia Intergovernmental Commission on Military and Military Technical Cooperation (IRIGC-M and MTC), aims to further strengthen the longstanding bilateral defence partnership between the two nations.
Lt Gen Rahul R Singh, DCOAS (CD and S), led the Indian delegation. Maj Gen Tufekchi Aleksandr, Deputy Head of the Main Armoured Directorate, Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation, headed the Russian delegation.
At the 12th Session of the India-Russia Working Group on Modernisation and Industrial Cooperation under the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technological and Cultural Cooperation on August 7, India and Russia agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation in railway transport, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), SJ-100 regional planes, and critical minerals.
New areas of cooperation in railway transport such as infrastructure facilities, the Vande Bharat train project, and signalling equipment were taken up for discussion. Moreover, cooperation in Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), 3-D printing, production of the Russian regional aircraft SJ-100, which is a narrow-body jet capable of carrying 103 passengers, and aero-engines were also discussed.
