Bhubaneswar: A total of 7 sluice gates (5 on the left and 2 on the right) remain open at Hirakud Dam, according to the latest update released by dam authorities at 6 am today.
The dam authorities informed that the water level of the reservoir has risen to 622.19 feet. The average inflow into the reservoir has been recorded at 1,84,370 cusecs (showing a falling trend), while the average outflow stands at 1,45,706 cusecs.
Of the total outflow, 1,10,824 cusecs is being released through the spillway, 31,941 cusecs through the power channel, 229 cusecs for industrial use, and 2,712 cusecs through various canals.
Downstream, river gauges at Belgaon, Patharla, Khairmal, Barmul and Mundali are all showing a declining trend in discharge. Dam authorities are continuously monitoring the situation.
