Bhubaneswar: Heavy to very heavy rainfall has been recorded in Kalahandi, Rayagada and Nabarangpur districts in the last 24 hours under the influence of the low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal.
According to the SRC Office, Thuamul Rampur in Kalahandi district recorded the highest rainfall of 345 mm, followed by Gunupur in Rayagada with 260 mm, Kashipur in Rayagada with 212 mm and Jaipatna in Kalahandi with 200 mm.
Meanwhile, a low-pressure area has formed over Northwest Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood under the influence of the upper air cyclonic circulation over North Bay of Bengal off West Bengal-Bangladesh coasts. According to the IMD, the system formed at 5:30 AM IST today, August 23, 2026.
