Bhubaneswar: Several parts of Odisha witnessed heavy to very heavy rainfall in the 24 hours ending 08:30 am today, according to data released by the India Meteorological Department’s Meteorological Centre of Bhubaneswar.
As per data, four stations recorded very heavy rainfall. The highest was 169.4 mm at Joda in Kendujhar district, followed by Papadahandi in Nabarangapur (158.8 mm), Paikmal in Baragada (120.0 mm), and Kusumi in Mayurbhanj (117.0 mm).
A total of 47 stations across the state reported heavy rainfall. Notable amounts included Jharigaon (Nabarangapur) 112.6 mm, Joshipur (Mayurbhanj) 108.0 mm, Telkoi (Keonjhar) 106.4 mm, Champua (Kendujhar) 103.4 mm, Naraj (Kataja) 98.4 mm, and Lephripara (Sundargarh) 98.1 mm.
Other significant readings were recorded in districts including Baleshwar, Koraput, Sambalpur, Puri, Kalahandi, and Bolangir. The widespread rainfall covered stations in Kendujhar, Nabarangapur, Mayurbhanj, Baragada, Sundargarh, Kataka, Baleshwar, Koraput, Sambalpur, Puri, Kalahandi, Debagada, Bolangir, Malkangiri, Anugola, and Kandhamal, among others.
Rainfall amounts at many of these locations ranged between 65 mm and 98 mm.
The IMD bulletin highlights the intensity of monsoon activity over Odisha on this date, with the highest concentrations observed in the northern and western districts.
The residents in the affected areas are advised to remain alert for possible waterlogging or flooding.
