Baragada: Police have busted an illegal cough syrup trade operating under Ambabhona police station limits in Bargada district and arrested two persons in connection with the case.
The arrested accused have been identified as Ghanashyam Naik (39) and Pugal Kusum (58), both residents of Chicholi village under Ambabhona police station.
Police have seized 150 sealed bottles of cough syrup, 12 opened bottles, a Honda Activa scooter, a mobile phone and cash of Rs 3,500 from their possession. The accused were forwarded to court. A case (No. 154/2026) has been registered at Ambabhona police station against them.
According to information, the accused were moving around Prakashpur bus stand area on the scooter and selling cough syrup. After receiving information, a team led by the Ambabhona IIC conducted a surprise raid on the direction of Bargada SP. During the raid, both the accused were arrested and the above-mentioned materials were seized from them.
