Bhubaneswar: In a further update on Bhanja Kishore Behera, Ex-SRA, Tirtol Block, Odisha Vigilance has uncovered assets worth around Rs 2 crore amassed from misappropriated government funds.
Earlier, Behera, Ex-SRA, Tirtol Block, at present SRA at Naugaon Tahasil in Jagatsinghpur district, was arrested by Odisha Vigilance on August 12, 2026 in connection with misappropriation of government funds to the tune of Rs 3,02,95,000.
During an extensive investigation spanning financial years 2011-12 through 2021-22, Vigilance uncovered a systematically executed financial fraud centred at the Tirtol Block office by Behera, who is the main accused.
Behera was also found to have misappropriated funds by fabrication and tampering of government salary registers and disbursal documents.
During further interrogation by a team of Odisha Vigilance, Behera admitted to having acquired assets, including a palatial building of 7,000 sqft, tent house and other valuables with the misappropriated amount of around Rs 2 crore.
Following his arrest, Odisha Vigilance is today conducting searches at six locations associated with Behera on the alleged possession of disproportionate assets (DA).Searches are continuing. Further report follows.
