Sambalpur: The Hirakud Dam authorities on Monday night ordered the opening of four more sluice gates as the reservoir water level continued to rise, taking the total number of open sluice gates to 16.
As per the order issued at 9.00 pm, a total of 11 gates on the left side and five on the right side of the dam will remain open.
The present outflow from the reservoir stands at 2,88,742 cusecs, while the spillway discharge is 2,54,496 cusecs.
The authorities are closely monitoring the reservoir’s inflow and water level amid the continued rise in the dam’s storage.
