Bhubaneswar: Jajpur MP Rabindra Narayan Behera on Monday met Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and urged him to transfer the long-pending Pihu disappearance case to the Odisha Crime Branch for a thorough and impartial investigation aimed at locating the missing child.
According to reports, Pihu, a minor girl from Madhusudanpur village under Binjharpur police station limits in Jajpur district, allegedly went missing on August 9, 2020. Her mother, Monalisa Nayak, stated in the representation that the family had informed the police shortly after the incident, but the response lacked urgency. A case under Section 363 of the IPC was finally registered on August 14, 2020.
The family has claimed that despite several representations to the police and district administration over the years, the investigation failed to make meaningful progress.
Nearly six years later, Pihu still remains untraced, leaving her family without answers.
The representation also levels allegations against the then Inspector-in-Charge of Binjharpur police station, Niranjan Sabar, accusing him of delay and negligence in handling the case and questioning the manner in which the initial probe was conducted.
