Malkangiri: A five-foot-long mugger crocodile was safely rescued by field staff from Balimela-Chitrakonda Ghati Monday late night.
Acting promptly on information received about the presence of the crocodile at the location, the field staff reached the spot and carried out the rescue operation without any incident.
The rescued mugger crocodile is currently under medical observation.
As per the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), it will be released into its natural habitat after its fitness is fully ensured.
Officials said the timely intervention helped in safely securing the reptile and preventing any potential conflict in the area.
