BJP Files Complaint Seeking FIR Against Cong, SP For Spreading ‘False Propaganda’ Against Nitin Nabin

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday submitted a complaint to the Delhi Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) (Central District), Rohit Rajbir Singh, seeking registration of an FIR and immediate action against Congress, Samajwadi Party and other unknown persons, organisations and social media accounts for allegedly spreading “false, malicious, defamatory and politically motivated propaganda” against BJP chief Nitin Nabin.

The letter said that the complaint was filed over false claims that the BJP President consumed non-vegetarian food during his visit to Andhra Pradesh, during the Hindu holy month of ‘Sawan’.

Speaking to IANS, Delhi BJP General Secretary Vishnu Mittal said: “It is an extremely shameful act by the Congress, along with the Aam Aadmi Party, Samajwadi Party, and other opposition parties. During our (BJP) National President’s tour of Andhra Pradesh, he was having food which included a vegetarian dish—jackfruit (Kathal)—yet Congress pushed a narrative claiming that he was eating non-vegetarian food during the holy month of Sawan.”

Strongly condemning the incident, Mittal added: “We have identified around 25 (social media) accounts who have promoted such a narrative and handed them to the DCP. Strict action should be taken against those so that they think at least 10 times before placing such a narrative before the public.”

BJP MP Ramvir Singh Bidhuri accused the Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi of “directing Congress workers and leaders to spread misinformation against Bharatiya Janata Party leaders on social media and post fake videos”.

“Recently, a fake video was posted by Congress leaders regarding our (BJP) party’s National President, respected Nitin Nabin ji. Today, we met the DCP of the Central District of Delhi Police, Rohit Singh, and submitted a written complaint to him. Accompanying me was a delegation, including Delhi BJP General Secretary Vishnu Mittal and our Legal Cell head, Sanket Gupta, who is a senior advocate at the High Court.”

“We have demanded a thorough investigation into this matter and a deep probe to uncover whether any foreign forces are involved behind this and where the funding is coming from,” Bidhuri said.

The BJP MP said that DCP Singh has assured them of taking action according to the law.
