India Stands With Nepal, Says BJP After Several Die In Flash Floods

New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Nitin Nabin, along with other party leaders, on Wednesday expressed condolence and support after several people were feared dead and hundreds remain missing following the massive flash floods in the Bhote Koshi river that hit Nepal’s Rasuwa earlier in the day.

In a post on social media platform X, the BJP Chief said: “Deeply saddened by the widespread loss of life and devastation caused by the severe floods in Nepal. In this difficult time, I pray for the safety and well-being of our brothers and sisters in Nepal.”

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji spoke with Nepal’s Prime Minister Balendra Shah Ji, assuring him that India is fully prepared to provide all possible humanitarian assistance during this hour of crisis,” Nabin added.

Speaking to IANS, BJP Spokesperson Ajay Alok, echoed, saying: “A devastating flood has hit Nepal, which is the most horrific form of a natural disaster. Our deepest sympathies and full support are with Nepal.”

Alok also highlighted PM Modi’s conversation with his Nepalese counterpart, while adding: “The Home Minister (Amit Shah) has ordered work to be carried out on a war footing to help the victims in Nepal. He has also spoken to the Bihar Chief Minister (Samrat Choudhary), as there is a flood threat in the border districts of Bihar. At this time of natural disaster, India stands firmly with the people of Nepal and with Nepal.”

Praying for those affected in Nepal, Minister of State Sukanta Majumdar said: “I have seen the situation through TV, and really the situation is very pathetic. As a citizen of a neighbouring country, we are with the people of Nepal. We pray to God, that the situation may improve as early as possible. People are suffering a lot, they are our brothers and sisters.”

Meanwhile, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge also said that he is “deeply saddened” by the devastating flash floods in Nepal.

“My heartfelt condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. We stand in solidarity with the people of Nepal in this hour of grief,” he said in a post on X, while expressing concern for those missing in the tragedy.

Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi also offered condolences to those who lost their lives.

Taking to his official X account, LoP Rahul Gandhi said: “My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families of those who have lost their lives. My thoughts are with the families anxiously waiting for news of their loved ones.”

“I stand in solidarity with the people of Nepal and everyone affected by this tragic disaster,” he added.
