Bhubaneswar: A newborn baby girl was rescued from the roadside in Puri after being abandoned under a bush near the main road in front of Charichhak Community Health Centre.
According to reports, a woman from a minority community in the Kakatpur area had given birth to a baby girl at Charichhak Community Health Centre the previous day. On the evening of the same day, the mother absconded with the newborn. She allegedly left the infant under a bush beside the main road opposite the health centre and fled.
Local residents passing by heard the baby’s cries, rescued her, and admitted her to Charichhak Community Health Centre. Doctors examining the newborn in the paediatric ward confirmed that she is in good health.
The infant has since been transferred to the District Child Welfare Centre for further care and protection.
