Bhubaneswar: Odisha Police carried out a special enforcement drive in Kataka and Bhubaneswar on the night of 26 August 2026, focusing on women’s safety, prevention of crime against women, curbing organised crime, and a sustained campaign against drugs and illicit liquor.
The operation was conducted as per the directions of the Director General of Police. It targeted the prevention and detection of illegal arms, illicit liquor, narcotics, criminal activities, drunken driving, and other traffic violations, while also intensifying night patrolling and checking across the twin cities.
A total of 336 Cadet Sub-Inspectors were deployed for the drive to support field enforcement and gain practical exposure to policing operations.
In Kataka , police detected 90 cases of drunken driving and seized 90 vehicles, including 21 four-wheelers and 69 two-wheelers. Two excise cases were registered with the seizure of 35 litres of liquor. Two cases involving modified silencers were also detected, and four mobile phones were recovered.
In Bhubaneswar, 122 cases of drunken driving were registered and an equal number of vehicles were seized, comprising 49 four-wheelers, eight three-wheelers, and 65 two-wheelers. Fines amounting to Rs 79,500 were collected under Motor Vehicle and Odisha Urban Police Act provisions. Chandrasekharpur Police Station seized two sand-loaded Hywas, while Mancheswar Police Station detected two excise cases and two modified-silencer cases.
During foot patrolling, Khandagiri Police Station arrested three antisocial elements found consuming liquor in secluded places.
The overall drive focused on checking drunken driving, modified silencers, illegal activities, and antisocial elements.
Officials said the exercise reflects Odisha Police’s commitment to visible and proactive policing, safer roads, and the prevention of crime, especially during night hours. Such focused enforcement and field-oriented operations will continue to strengthen law, order, and public safety in the state.
