Kataka: The Orissa High Court has directed Kataka Collector Dattatraya Bhausaheb Shinde to appear in person over alleged non-compliance with its earlier order concerning the constitution of the Kataka city Traffic Management Committee.
The court directed the Collector to appear before it at 10.30 am on Saturday and explain why the committee was constituted without complying with the court’s directions.
The High Court had earlier ordered that an officer of the Additional District Magistrate (ADM) rank be included in the Traffic Management Committee. The committee was to be constituted by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) with the objective of ensuring effective traffic management in the city.
However, during the proceedings, the court observed that the committee constituted by the district administration did not include an officer of ADM rank as specifically directed.
Taking serious note of the alleged violation of its order, the High Court expressed displeasure and summoned the Kataka Collector to appear personally and show cause over the non-compliance.
The Collector will now have to explain before the court the circumstances under which the committee was constituted without an ADM-rank officer.
