Bhubaneswar: The State Transport Authority (STA), Odisha has issued a strong advisory cautioning people against fraudulent WhatsApp messages related to e-challans.
In a social media post, the STA authorities have clarified that it never sends messages on WhatsApp seeking payment of e-challans. Cyber fraudsters are circulating fake messages claiming traffic violations (such as not wearing a helmet or seatbelt) and attaching malicious APK files or suspicious links to trick people into sharing personal details or making payments.
The STA Authorities have urged the public to pay e-challans only through the official website — https://echallan.parivahan.gov.in . Citizens have been advised not to click on any unknown links, download APK files, or visit any other website for challan-related transactions.
The STA has requested people to remain vigilant and report such fraudulent messages to the authorities.
