Malkangiri: A giant Indian Rock Python, measuring 8-9 feet in length and weighing nearly 20 kg, was rescued from a house in Godaguda village of Malkangiri district.
According to reports, a youth in Godaguda village rears chickens and ducks at his home. For the past few days, one or two ducks were going missing daily, which had left him worried. This morning, when another duck went missing, he started searching for it near his house. During the search, he spotted the giant python inside his house, leaving the family panicked. The family immediately informed the villagers and alerted the Snake Helpline.
On receiving the information, a police homeguard registered with the Snake Helpline reached the spot and rescued the python with utmost caution. After confirming that the python was healthy, it was safely released into a nearby forest with the help of the Forest Department.
