Bhubaneswar: A second-year engineering student was found dead in her hostel room at a private college in the Seragada area under Khantapada police station in Baleshwar district on Monday late night.
The deceased has been identified as Bhagyashree Raut, a Computer Science student from the Nilagiri Panchalingeswar area.
As per reports, she was staying in the college hostel. Other students discovered her body hanging from the ceiling fan in her room and immediately informed the college authorities as well as the police. The incident is reported to have occurred around 9:30 pm.
Upon being informed, family members of the student reached the spot after receiving the news. The exact cause of death remains unclear at this stage.
Meanwhile, Khantapada police have arrived at the scene and are conducting a preliminary investigation.
