Bhubaneswar: The body of missing auto-rickshaw driver was recovered from the Kuakhai river near Balianta on Wednesday, nearly 36 hours after he went missing.
According to reports, the Balianta Fire Service personnel successfully located the body of Sanjay Swain after a prolonged search operation. The body was found near Lingipur, approximately two kilometres downstream from Tankapani Bridge.
Upon receiving information, Balianta police reached the spot. Family members of the deceased also arrived following which the body was sent to Capital Hospital for post-mortem examination.
Sanjay, a resident of Harachandi Sahi, had an argument with his wife around 10 pm on September 7 and subsequently went missing. Shortly afterwards, his auto-rickshaw slippers, vehicle keys and mobile phone were recovered from Tankapani Bridge, raising suspicion that he might have jumped into the river.
Following this, teams from Balianta Fire Service and ODRAF launched a joint search operation that continued for 36 hours before the body was finally traced.
