Bhubaneswar: Public darshan at Shree Jagannath Temple was halted for around two hours today after a devotee vomited near the Bhitara Katha, prompting Bada Mahasnana (purification) ritual.
According to information, thousands of devotees were having darshan of Mahaprabhu after the Madhyahna Dhupa ritual when a devotee fell ill and vomited near the Bhitara Katha.
As per temple tradition and scriptures, vomiting inside the sanctum area is considered inauspicious, and public darshan was stopped immediately.
As per the temple administration, the entire premises were washed with water and lime and purified before the Mahasnana of Mahaprabhu was performed. After completion of the Mahasnana ritual, public darshan resumed.
