Bhubaneswar: The Odisha BJP will organise a month-long ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ from September 17 to October 17 to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday and the completion of 25 years of his public service, state party president Manmohan Samal said on Thursday.
The campaign will feature a series of public service and awareness programmes across the state, including what the BJP plans to be one of the largest blood donation drives in Odisha on September 17.
Samal appealed to beneficiaries of government schemes and the general public to light an ‘Ashirwad Deep’ at their homes at 7 pm on the inaugural day.
Addressing a press conference at the BJP state office, Samal said educational institutions and rural areas would receive special attention during the campaign. Schools and colleges will host lectures, drawing competitions and photo exhibitions on the ‘Story of Change’, with elected representatives attending the programmes.
At Anganwadi centres, programmes including rangoli exhibitions will be held under the ‘Seva Setu’ initiative, while street plays titled ‘Namo Seva Gatha’ will be staged at major roads and intersections to spread awareness among people.
Under ‘Seva Mora Yogadan’, BJP leaders, workers and youth associated with the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra will reach out to people at their doorsteps. The campaign will also highlight 25 major services and initiatives associated with Modi’s 25 years in public life and governance.
A major event of the campaign will be the ‘Jansevak Mahakumbh’, where around 1.25 lakh elected representatives and public representatives from across Odisha are expected to assemble and sing the national anthem together.
Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra said the campaign was not merely a political programme but an effort to reinforce public service as a commitment and strengthen the party’s connect with people.
Samal also highlighted various initiatives undertaken by Modi during his tenure while outlining the BJP’s plans for the month-long campaign.
