Dubai: Odisha’s investment outreach in the United Arab Emirates gained further momentum on Thursday, with Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi holding a series of meetings with UAE leaders, investors and industry representatives that resulted in five MoUs and eight investment intents worth a combined ₹8,417 crore.

The proposed investments are expected to create around 14,310 jobs and span sectors including IT and IT-enabled services, real estate, logistics, food processing, agro-processing, steel and downstream industries, rare earths, chemicals, aluminium and recycling.

During his UAE visit, Majhi met Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri, UAE Cabinet Member and Minister of Economy and Tourism and Chairman of the Council of International Investments. The two sides discussed ways to deepen economic ties and facilitate greater participation of UAE-based businesses in Odisha.

The Chief Minister highlighted Odisha’s industrial base, strategic location, infrastructure, natural resources, skilled workforce and investor-friendly policies, urging UAE investors to consider the state for long-term partnerships.

Majhi also addressed an Odisha Investment Roadshow in Dubai, where the state showcased opportunities in manufacturing, metals, downstream industries, IT, infrastructure, logistics, food processing, chemicals and energy.

A separate roundtable with aluminium downstream companies focused on value addition, technology adoption and opportunities to develop globally competitive manufacturing capacities in Odisha. He also interacted with members of the Indian Business & Professional Council (IBPC) in Dubai to explore business linkages, collaborations and investment opportunities.

As part of the sectoral outreach, Majhi visited Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA), a leading aluminium producer in the UAE, to gain insights into advanced technologies and industrial practices. Discussions also covered possible cooperation in technology, value addition and downstream development.

A roundtable with the Bureau of Middle East Recycling focused on recycling, resource efficiency and the circular economy.

Of the total investment potential announced during the day, the five MoUs account for ₹5,600 crore and are expected to generate 11,500 jobs. The eight investment intents represent a further ₹2,817 crore and employment potential of 2,810.

The Chief Minister said Odisha was committed to providing policy stability, infrastructure and institutional support to facilitate smooth implementation of investment projects.

The Dubai engagements are part of Odisha’s broader international investment outreach aimed at attracting capital, promoting industrial diversification and value addition, and creating employment opportunities under the state’s vision of a globally connected and economically prosperous Odisha.
