Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has reported that the low pressure area over the Northwest Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood has shifted and now lies over the Northwest-Westcentral Bay of Bengal and adjoining south Odisha-north Andhra Pradesh coasts as of 05:30 am on Friday.
The associated cyclonic circulation extends up to 7.6 km above mean sea level and is tilting southwestwards with height, according to the latest IMD bulletin.
The IMD has issued wind warning. Squally winds with speeds reaching 40-50 kmph, gusting to 60 kmph, are very likely over the North Bay of Bengal and Central Bay of Bengal, as well as along and off the Bangladesh, West Bengal, Odisha and North Andhra Pradesh coasts during the next 48 hours.
Rough to very rough sea conditions are expected to prevail over the North Bay of Bengal and Central Bay of Bengal during the same period.
Additionally, the IMD has advised fishermen not to venture into the North Bay of Bengal and Central Bay of Bengal, or along and off the Bangladesh-West Bengal-Odisha-North Andhra Pradesh coasts, over the next 48 hours.
