Bhubaneswar: A minor girl died and her 22-year-old boyfriend is battling for life after the couple allegedly consumed poison in the Sinapali police station area of Nuapada district.
According to reports, the young couple had left their homes last night. They later consumed poison, though the exact reason behind the extreme step remains unclear. Family members found both of them writhing in pain in a paddy field and rescued them.
They were given primary treatment at Sinapali hospital and then shifted to Khariar hospital before being referred to Nuapada District Headquarters Hospital for better care. Despite medical efforts, the minor girl succumbed to the poisoning. However, her boyfriend is battling for his life and his condition is stated to be critical.
Police are investigating the incident to ascertain the circumstances that led the couple to consume poison.
