Kendrapada: A six-foot-long saltwater crocodile was rescued after getting trapped in a fishing net at Brahmanikholha village in the Rajnagar area of Odisha’s Kendrapada district on Saturday, forest officials said.
The crocodile was caught in a fishing net laid by villager Bhagabat Swain to catch fish in his agricultural land near Brahmanikholha village.
Swain spotted the crocodile trapped in the net when he went to collect the fish on Saturday morning. He immediately informed local residents and the Forest Department about the reptile.
On receiving the information, Forest Department personnel reached the spot and safely rescued the crocodile, officials said.
The presence of the saltwater crocodile in agricultural land triggered panic among local residents.
