Bhubaneswar: In a daring heist, miscreants looted gold jewellery worth around Rs 1 crore from a jewellery shop in Jharsuguda in the early hours today.
The burglary took place at Tulasi Jewellery at around 1 AM. The burglars climbed the wall, broke open the shop wall and entered inside. They looted gold jewellery kept for display and fled the spot.
Before fleeing, the burglars also broke and took away the CCTV cameras installed in the shop.The shop owner lodged a complaint at Jharsuguda police station.
Jharsuguda Superintendent of Police Gundala Reddy Raghavendra is overseeing the investigation.
A team led by Sub-Divisional Police Officer Umashankar Singh, Town police station Inspector-in-Charge Ranjan Bariha and a scientific team examined the scene. Police have deployed a sniffer dog and forensic personnel to gather clues.
The SP said all-out efforts are on to trace the burglars and recover the stolen jewellery, expressing confidence that the suspects will be arrested soon.
