Bhubaneswar: In a brazen attack, drug mafia tried to kill police personnel by running a car over them in Jagatsinghpur district late Saturday night.
According to reports, police were patrolling the area after receiving information about drug dealing. During patrolling, the accused tried to mow down the police team with their car. Police constable Captain Nityanand was seriously injured in the incident.
Police arrested main accused Vicky Parija and Zaki Parija from the spot, while three other accused managed to escape.
Both accused have several criminal cases registered against them in different police stations. They were out on bail when they attacked the police this time, officials said.
“They have committed the crime, attacking police this time. They are on bail. They will be forwarded to court today,” said an official.
Police have launched a manhunt to nab the three absconding accused and are conducting raids at various places.
