Bhubaneswar: East Coast Railway (ECoR) General Manager Parameswar Funkwal on Sunday inspected the Rayagada–Koraput–Jeypore railway section and reviewed the overall operations, safety and infrastructure development works in the section.
During the inspection, the General Manager undertook a window-trailing inspection from Rayagada to Jeypore and reviewed the condition of the railway track, signalling and operations, as well as ongoing infrastructure works along the route. He also took stock of the ongoing doubling work in the Singapur Road–Koraput section, including the progress of major engineering works being executed as part of the project.
The project is of significant importance for enhancing line capacity, facilitating smoother train operations, strengthening rail connectivity in the region and supporting the overall socio-economic development of the area.
Funkwal reviewed various safety aspects and measures to ensure safe and efficient train movement in the section. He also reviewed passenger amenities at stations, infrastructure development, cleanliness and the progress of works being undertaken under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. He stressed the need for timely execution of development works while maintaining quality, ensuring worksite safety and minimising inconvenience to passengers.
During the inspection, the General Manager emphasised the importance of maintaining the highest standards of safety, reliability and passenger service. He also urged officials to closely monitor the progress of ongoing works and ensure their timely completion.
Senior officials of ECoR, officials from the Construction Department, along with the Divisional Railway Manager of Rayagada Division, were present during the inspection.
