Bhubaneswar: A man was allegedly chased and brutally assaulted by a group of more than 20 youths in Dhauli area here, with the entire incident being captured on three CCTV cameras.
The victim, identified as Rajnikant Nayak of Nakhour village under Dhauli police station limits, was allegedly chased by the group, who arrived in six vehicles. The attackers reportedly beat him up and struck his head with beer bottles, leaving him seriously injured.
Three CCTV footage clips purportedly show the sequence of events. The first captures the group assaulting Rajnikant, the second shows the attackers fleeing the spot, while the third reportedly shows them continuing the assault after Rajnikant had fallen to the ground.
On being informed about the incident, Rajnikant’s elder brother reached the spot and found him in a blood-soaked condition. He rescued him and took him to Dhauli police station, from where police immediately shifted him to Capital Hospital.
Rajnikant received multiple stitches on his head at the hospital. As his condition was reportedly serious, he was later shifted to a private medical facility for further treatment.
Police are investigating the incident and efforts are on to identify and apprehend those involved.
