Bhubaneswar: A person was killed and his brother critically injured after the two allegedly hurled bombs at each other during a quarrel in Mahul village under Angarapada panchayat under Chandaka police station limits late Tuesday night.
The deceased has been identified as Mohan Padhi. His younger brother Madan Padhi sustained serious injuries, including the loss of one palm, and is undergoing treatment.
Madan was first admitted to Capital Hospital and later shifted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Kataka due to his critical condition.
According to preliminary information, the brothers had kept bombs at home for hunting wildlife. A dispute broke out between them on Tuesday night, following which both threw bombs at each other. Mohan suffered severe head injuries and died on the spot.
The twin explosions sent shockwaves through the locality. Chandaka police, along with the Bhubaneswar DCP and Zone-6 ACP, reached the spot and launched an investigation.
Meanwhile, a scientific team examined the scene and collected samples. Police are continuing the probe into the incident.
