Kendujhar: Two people, including a young man and a woman, were killed in separate lightning strikes in Anandapur area of Kendujhar district on Wednesday, police said.
The first incident was reported from Padmapur village under Anandapur police station, where Papu Sahu was struck by lightning while he was on his way to work in an agricultural field. He reportedly died on the spot.
In another incident, a woman identified as Sabita Barik of Kantipal village was struck by lightning when she came out to the doorway of her house. She died in the incident.
The two deaths in separate lightning strikes on the same day have cast a pall of gloom over the Anandapur area, with mourning prevailing in the bereaved families.
