Jharkhand CID Arrests Four More Accused In JPSC, JSSC CGL Exam Irregularities Cases

Ranchi: Jharkhand’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID), probing two separate cases related to irregularities in recruitment examinations conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC), has arrested four more accused, officials said on Wednesday.

Following preliminary interrogation, all four accused have been sent to judicial custody.

The CID has so far arrested and sent over 30 people to jail in connection with the examination scam.

Those arrested earlier include former JPSC Chairman L. Khiangte, former examination controller Shweta Gupta, examination agency official Ramveer Singh, and alleged kingpin Abhay Tiwari, among others.

According to the CID, two accused, Hrithik Roshan from Mango in Jamshedpur and Pankaj Prasun from Sukhdevnagar in Ranchi, were arrested in Case No. 16/2026 related to the JPSC examination.

Investigators allege that both candidates received undue benefits during the recruitment examination process.

The agency claims that the alleged advantage was facilitated through Sanjeet Kumar, operator of the Ranchi-based coaching institute ‘Shivangan Ki Pathshala’, who had been arrested earlier in the case.

The CID is now probing the manner in which the two candidates allegedly benefited and the involvement of other individuals in the process.

In a separate development linked to Case No. 01/2025 concerning the JSSC CGL examination, the CID arrested Rajesh Prasad Yadav of Golwadhab in Koderma and Sandeep Kumar of Purna Nagar.

The agency alleged that both played a role in extending undue benefits to several candidates in the examination.

The CID said it is investigating various links in the alleged network through which candidates were purportedly provided unfair advantages in recruitment examinations. The agency had earlier questioned and arrested several individuals as part of the ongoing probe.

Officials said fresh information about other suspects and their roles is being gathered based on the interrogation of those arrested.

Investigators are also attempting to ascertain how the alleged system of extending undue benefits to candidates operated, who was involved in the network, and whether any financial transactions took place in exchange.

However, officials cautioned that it would be premature to draw any conclusions before the investigation is completed.

The CID maintained that the arrests were made on the basis of available evidence and facts that emerged during the investigation. All four accused have been sent to judicial custody, while further investigation is underway.
