Kataka: Security and safety arrangements have been stepped up in Kataka ahead of the immersion of Ganesh idols, with the civic administration focusing on crowd management and prevention of accidents during the process.
Kataka Mayor Subash Singh and Commissioner of Kataka Municipal Corporation (KMC) Kirandeep Kaur Sohata reviewed the preparations and visited Debigada, the city’s main immersion point, along with officials from various departments.
Barricades will be installed at Debigada to regulate crowds and ensure public safety during the immersion. With a larger number of Ganesh idols installed across Kataka this year, the KMC has made extensive arrangements and constructed 13 temporary immersion ponds.
Fire service teams will be deployed at key locations as part of the measures to prevent accidents. The civic authorities have also decided to complete arrangements for lighting, roads and tents at Debigada before the immersion begins.
The administration has advised puja committees against carrying out immersion independently and asked them to inform police authorities in advance about their plans. The committees have also been urged to exercise caution and follow the prescribed arrangements during the immersion.
Officials said the focus was on ensuring that the puja, festival celebrations and immersion programmes are completed in a safe and orderly manner.
