Bhubaneswar: The Central government has appointed senior Odisha cadre IPS officer Amitendra Nath Sinha as Inspector General in the Border Security Force (BSF).
A 2002-batch officer, Sinha is at present serving as Inspector General in the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
As per a notification issued by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, he will hold the new assignment from the date he takes charge until July 10, 2028, or until further orders from the government.
Sinha has been on a five-year central deputation since July 11, 2023. His transfer to the BSF has been effected on a lateral shift basis and will form part of the same combined central tenure.
Prior to his central posting, the officer held several key positions in the Odisha Police, including that of Inspector General of the CID-Crime Branch.
