Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued heavy to very heavy rainfall alert for several Odisha districts till September 25 under influence of an upper-air cyclonic circulation over north Thailand. The cyclonic circulation is likely to emerge over the north Andaman Sea around September 18 evening and under its influence a low pressure area is likely to form over the same region around the evening of September 19.
Meanwhile, the IMD has issued an orange warning to 15 Odisha districts predicting thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty surface wind. This IMD’s alert is valid till 8:30 am on September 19.
According to IMD’s prediction valid upto to 8:30 am tomorrow, Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghapur, Kataka, Sundaragada, Jharsuguda, Baragada, Sambalpur, Debagada, Anugola, Dhenkanal, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj are very likely to witness thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and gusty surface wind (wind speed reaching upto 40-50 kmph).
Besides, heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the district of Mayurbhanj. IMD has issued a yellow warning to Mayurbhanj district. Additionally, thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and gusty surface wind (wind speed reaching upto 30-40 kmph) are very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Subarnapur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamala, Nawarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha and Nayagada.

These districts have been issued yellow alert.

These districts have been issued yellow alerts.
For Day 4 valid from 8:30 am of September 21 to 8:30 am of September 22, Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Jagatsinghapur, Kataka, Kendrapada, Sundaragada, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Subarnapur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamala, Nawarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha and Nayagada have been issued yellow alert for thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty surface wind.
For Day 5 valid from 8:30 am of September 22 to 8:30 am of September 23, the IMD has issued an orange warning to Subarnapur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangapur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati and Ganjam predicting thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and gusty surface wind (wind speed reaching upto 40-50 kmph).
The IMD has issued orange warning to several districts predicting heavy to very heavy rain to several districts till September 25.
