Sundaragada: The Odisha Health Department is closely monitoring the situation in Sundaragada amid concern over scrub typhus, Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling said on Saturday, urging people not to panic until test reports establish the exact cause of illness.
Mahaling said necessary tests are being conducted and it would be premature to draw any conclusion about scrub typhus before the ELISA and confirmatory test results are received.
A special medical team has been deployed to the affected areas of the district to assess the situation and monitor patients. The team is collecting details on their health condition, symptoms and other relevant information, while ensuring necessary treatment and follow-up.
The Health Department is keeping a close watch on the situation pending the test results. Further measures will be taken based on the findings of the medical team and laboratory reports, officials said.
