Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday expressed grief over the death of Odia tourists in a road accident in Madhya Pradesh and announced an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh each for the next of kin of the deceased.
Speaking to reporters at Bhubaneswar airport after returning from Delhi following his participation in Semicon 2026, Majhi conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families and said the state government was taking steps to facilitate the return of the victims’ mortal remains.
The Chief Minister said Odisha government officials were in touch with their counterparts in Madhya Pradesh and that necessary arrangements had been made for bringing back the bodies.
