Bhubaneswar: The Ganjam Cyber Crime and Economic Offences Police have busted an alleged online betting app fraud network and arrested three persons accused of luring people with promises of high returns and collecting money through online betting platforms, police said on Sunday.
The accused have been identified as Satrughna Kumar Pandey of Jharkhand, Dharmadas Manikpuri of Chhattisgarh and Jagadish Sethi alias Suraj.
Police also seized 14 mobile phones, three laptops, 86 SIM cards, 78 ATM/debit and other cards, 16 bank passbooks and a motorcycle, besides several documents, during raids conducted in Ganjam district.
Ganjam Superintendent of Police Harisha B C said police received information that several youths from outside Odisha were staying in rented houses in the Gajapati Nagar and Palurgada areas under Rambha police limits and were allegedly involved in promoting and operating online betting applications.
Acting on the information, a team from the Cyber Police Station conducted raids at the suspected locations. Two persons were apprehended during the raids, while two others allegedly managed to escape under the cover of darkness.
Police later traced another accused, Jagadish Sethi, to the Chamakhandi area using mobile phone numbers and arrested him.
During the raids, investigators allegedly recovered digital devices containing PAN and Aadhaar card details, bank account information and other identity documents belonging to different individuals.
Police also allegedly recovered user IDs, passwords and transaction records linked to several online gaming and betting platforms, including Reddy Play 11, Hush 777, 100 Panel and Fairplay.
Police said the recovery of multiple SIM cards, bank documents, ATM/debit cards and digital devices has prompted investigators to examine the wider financial and operational links of the alleged network.
A case was registered on September 19, 2026, following a complaint lodged by Inspector-in-Charge Priyanka Behera. The case has been registered as Case No. 20/2026.
The seized digital devices have been sent for forensic examination, police said.
Further investigation is underway.
