Bhubaneswar: Odisha Health and Family Welfare Minister Mukesh Mahaling on Monday reviewed the preparedness of the state health department to ensure uninterrupted essential medical services in the event of heavy rainfall.
During a virtual meeting, Mahaling reviewed emergency health services, availability of medicines and essential medical supplies, ambulance facilities and preparedness of hospitals across the state.
The minister directed officials to remain vigilant and ensure close coordination so that essential health services are not disrupted in any district. He also stressed on immediate availability of emergency medical services in rainfall-affected areas and adequate preparedness and resources at hospitals.
Mahaling said the state government was committed to ensuring the safety and health of the people and appealed to the public not to panic over the possibility of heavy rainfall, but to remain cautious and follow advisories issued by the administration and government.
Health Department Commissioner-cum-Secretary Aswathy S, Director of Public Health Rabindra Nath Mishra, Director of Health Services Mahesh Mohan Panda, DMET Durga Madhab Satapathy, all Chief District Medical Officers and Deans and Principals of medical colleges participated in the meeting.
