Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance today launched simultaneous searches at six locations linked to Kartikeswar Behera, Panchayat Executive Officer (PEO) of Katabhal Gram Panchayat and in-charge PEO of Firingimal Gram Panchayat and Gourenmunda Gram Panchayat under Gaisilet Block in Baragada district, on charges of possessing disproportionate assets beyond his known sources of income.
According to a release issued by the Odisha Vigilance, the searches are being conducted by a team comprising five Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), 8 Inspectors, 2 Assistant Sub-Inspectors and other supporting staff on the strength of search warrants issued by the Special Vigilance Judge, Baragada.
The Vigilance team is carrying out searches at six places of Behera in Baragada district. These include his double-storeyed residential building at Kandagarh near Gaisilet, a market complex comprising six rooms at Kandagarh, a godown comprising three rooms at Kandagarh, a four-storeyed under-construction building at Gaisilet, his house at his native village at Kandagarh and his office chamber at Katabhal GP.
The searches are continuing and further details regarding the seizure of assets are awaited.
