Bhubaneswar: Over 27 fishing trawlers from Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh were forced to anchor off the Ganjam coast after rough sea conditions due to a depression disrupted their voyage.
According to reports, the trawlers were unable to proceed towards Kakinada due to the turbulent sea. Unable to return home through the turbulent waters, the trawlers moved to safety at the Aryapalli fishing jetty.
On being informed, the Ganjam district administration rushed assistance to the fishermen on board and is keeping a close watch on their safety. While most boats have reached the jetty, a few are still out at sea.
The Fisheries Department said operations are on to bring them ashore safely.
