Bhubaneswar: The Forest Wing of Odisha Vigilance seized a leopard skin during a surprise raid in Udyanbandh Forest Range under Khariar Forest Division on Tuesday.
Acting on reliable information, Vigilance officials conducted the raid and detected a wildlife case. One leopard skin (Panthera pardus) was recovered from the spot.
The accused has been identified as Inyat Alli, a hunter from Kumuntimunda village under Komna Police Station in Nuapada district. He was arrested on the spot for violation of Section 9 and punishable under Section 51 of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972.
Investigation is underway. Further details are awaited.
