Bhubaneswar: Odisha Government today informed the House that there are only 18 cold storages being managed by the Cooperation Department in the state.
Responding to a question by MLA Tankadhar Tripathy, the Cooperation Minister said out of the 18 cold storages, 6 are located in Kataka, 2 each in Puri and Ganjam, and one each in Rayagada, Koraput, Jagatsinghpur, Khordha, Bargada, Dhenkanal and Sundargada.
The Minister further stated that out of the 18, 16 cold storages are currently defunct. There is no proposal at present for setting up any new cold storage in the cooperative sector in the state, the Minister clarified.
